cross-country ski Trail Conditions
Ski Trail conditions
You no longer need a Minnesota state ski pass for Anoka County Parks ski trails.
-
A minimum of 4-6 inches of snow is needed to groom trails depending on moisture levels. Focus begins with rolling trails until sufficient base can be established for grooming. Trails will then be groomed with tracks for classic skiing as snow depth increases.
It typically takes trail groomers 4 days to go through the entire trail system. After a fresh snowfall, 2 days are needed to pack and roll trails and another 2 days to groom and set track.
Trail locations are addressed in the following order: Bunker Hills Regional Park (Park, Golf Course, Skijor), Chomonix Golf Course, and finally Rum River Central Regional Park.
-
Rolled - Trails are packed with marginal conditions for skate skiing.
Groomed - Skate deck is combed for skate skiing.
Groomed and Tracked - Skate deck is combed for skate skiing and tracks are set for classic skiing.
Ungroomed - Trails are not rolled or tracked. Break your own trail.
-
Good - Firm skate deck and/or tracks recently set with no bare spots and track is firm.
Fair - Bare and icy spots are minimal.
Poor - Track and/or skate deck trail mostly diminished with areas of drifting snow, icy and bare spots.
Closed - Lack of snow, dangerously icy conditions or maintenance work in progress.
